From the SourceForge description - "XWT is the XML Windowing Toolkit. It lets you write remote applications -- applications that run on a server, yet can "project" their user interface onto any computer, anywhere on the Internet."

There's some neat demos that shows off a mail program, chess program, and some others. There's some things it can't do right now (keyboard navigation, vector graphics, streaming sound), but it's very impressive nonetheless.

Amazingly, it seems like XWT was primarily written by one person (Adam Megacz) with some help from 3 other developers.

I like the design of it where all the business logic is through SOAP/XML-RPC calls. Here's the design from their website:



Now, THIS (or similar ideas) will be the future of web applications.
