Sunday afternoon, our family went to help out and conduct a Sunday Worship Service at Merrill Gardens, a retirement community. Several others from our church also went. We brought along a dozen hymnals for them to sing from. And about a dozen ladies showed up for the service. We had the kids pass out the hymnals while Shiow-Lih played the piano. I then led all of us in "Count your Blessings" while Sarena decided to dance in front of the podium. Then after singing "What a Friend we have in Jesus", I shared a message on prayer. Then we sang "How Great Thou Art" and closed by breaking up into small groups and praying for the ladies. Afterwards, as several of the ladies shook my hand and said they liked the sermon, I felt like a preacher shaking hands with the congregation members.

I think all of us from church were blessed as much as all the ladies at the retirement home. It was a good time being able to minister and share life with them.

that's great to see your family outreach in your community.

It was a bit intimidating at first. That was the first time I've preached to seniors. But, I soon got into it when we opened up the hymnal. And soon I realized that it's no different leading worship for seniors than a bunch of teenagers (though some might doze off earlier).
