Since 1950, the percentage of men in the civilian workforce has been steadily declining. In 1950, it was over 85%. Now, it’s under 70%. Meanwhile, the percentage of women working has steadily increased from from under 35% in 1950 to now over 55%. Total labor participation rate is 63%, which is the lowest since 1978.
