“If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Luke 12:28
We typically live as if things will continue on the same as it is going today. But we are guaranteed no such promise. Tomorrow we could have a heart attack or get hit by a truck. Tomorrow our spouse could file for a divorce. Tomorrow the stock market could crash. Tomorrow we could choose to give in to temptation. Tomorrow we could get laid off from work. Tomorrow we could learn that we have a terminal disease. Tomorrow our house could burn down. Tomorrow Jesus could return.
We are to neither worry about the future nor think that all will go well in the future. Instead our trust is in God alone. He alone knows the future. We are to trust in his wisdom and care. We are not to set our security on the things of this world, but we are to set our security in God alone. We are not to think that we cannot fall to temptations, but we are to daily seek God’s strength and protection. We are to walk humbly before our God and know that He alone is all powerful. We are to seek His kingdom and His righteousness and let God take care of the future.
“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow;
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know who holds the future,
Life is worth all the living, just because He lives.”
