Where was I when I heard Saddam Hussein was captured? I was at church about to attend the first hour service. Since I was to lead second hour, Marion came up to me and told me that Bush would make a statement at noon. So, as I was leading second hour, I adjusted our time to end a little bit before noon so that we could all listen to the radio in the fellowship hall. Then as the time approached, it was delayed until 12:15 and then we put the radio on the PA system.
I was surprised that they were able to capture Saddam. I would’ve guessed that he would’ve escaped to another country. Also I was surprised that he didn’t commit suicide upon capture. And I find it ironic that the only thing he had with him was $750,000 in $100 bills (along with two AK-47 rifles and a pistol).
