Luke 23:21 “But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.”

The devil thought he had finally did it. He was going to have Jesus killed before He could set up his kingdom on earth. The devil would secure his hold on his earthly reign and over his unwilling subjects. The devil would kill God’s only Son, just like he had killed all of God’s prophets before. The devil thought the victory was his.

But with God, all is not as it seems. It’s like an opponent playing a grandmaster in chess. The grandmaster might sacrifice a queen and the opponent will think he has won. But it’s all a setup. Through the sacrifice, the grandmaster will ultimately win.

On Easter, the Grandmaster of grandmasters, played His winning end move. He brings his sacrificed Son back from the dead and secures the ultimate victory. Victory of life over death. Victory of righteousness over sin. Victory of eternal salvation to those who believe. Victory for my eternal communion with my Creator.

Colossians 3:13
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
