Saturday, we dropped by Kudzu (a discount book store) for a look. I was looking for any php books, but they didn’t have any. But, they were having a 50% off sale on all children’s books in August. So, we got several books. They also had an illustrated edition of The Hobbit which I was able to pick for $2.50 after the sale.
JRR Tolkien’s book was adapted by Charles Dixon and Sean Deming and illustrated by David Wenzel. I started reading it when I got home and finished it that night.
What a great book. I read The Hobbit when I was a kid and wasn’t too impressed. Seems like certain books are enjoyable only when you get older (like reading the Chronicles of Naria). The plot was very interesting. But what made the book alive were the illustrations. David Wenzel did a fantastic job with it.
I wish they’d do Lord of the Rings.
