Friday night, we went to the North Georgia State Fair. Parking was $2 and entrance fees were $5 per adult. The kids got in free.
When we first got there, we tried to find some food. And there were a lot of food booths (however, if you don’t like hot dogs, you’ll be in for a disappointment). Afterwards, they had some cloggers on stage. Then we walked over to the ride section. They had tons of rides (merry-go-rounds, ferris wheels, loop-de-loops, etc). And they had tons of games with people trying to get you to give them money. All the rides though were kinda expensive. Tickets were $1 each or cheaper as you buy more (80 tickets for $50). And each ride was 2 or 3 tickets per person. So, just to ride the ferris wheel, we had to fork over $10 (12 tickets for $10).
There was this one ride that was an giant inflatable sinking Titanic. And you can slide down the huge deck. Sarena wanted to slide down it. So after I handed over $1, she climbed all the way up. It must have been at least 50 feet sliding down. And she was a bit scaried sliding down that thing. But, I was impressed that she rode it.
There was a rock climbing wall that I tried. It costed $5, but you can try 3 times. And if you get to the top of the hard section, you can get $20. I was thinking that was an easy $15 for any rock climbers. But, most of the people that attends fairs apparently aren’t rock climbers. I first tried the easy one. It was my first time ever trying to rock climb. And, if you don’t think about how high you are, it’s not too bad. The hard parts is that it gives your forearm an intense workout and trying to figure out your route up. Once I got to the top, the way to get down is simply to let go, and the rope will gently let you back down. But, it’s totally against your intuition to just let go. But, since I had repelled before, I jumped off the wall and went down. Actually, it was fun to go down. I then tried to go up the intermediate one, but my forearms were too sore.
Next, we went to see the tiger demonstration. Then we went to the animal petting zoo. There were chickens, pigs, rabbits, llamas, horses, and even a camel. There was also a huge bull, but you had to pay 50 cents to touch it. And if you wanted to take a picture of it, it was $5 (even if I used my camera!).
That night they also had a concert, but we skipped that.
Overall, it’s definitely worth visiting. And we’ll be back next weekend for the free entrance and 50% rides on Saturday.
