– Graduated from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a minor in sociology
– Became a Christian in 1945
– Started Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951
– Wrote The Four Spiritual Laws booklet in 1956 with more than 2.5 billion distributed to date
– In 1979, introduced The JESUS film. Viewed by 5.1 billion people in 234 countries and translated into 800 languages
– In 1996, presented with the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion
– Held six honorary doctorate degrees
– Died July 19, 2003, in Orlando, Fla., from complications related to pulmonary fibrosis at age 81
