I’m in the market for a new laptop. And now I’ve got my eye on the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. But there are little, if any, 64-bit software that can run on them.

Then there’s Linux. Several distributions support the AMD64: SUSE Linux 9.1, Fedora, and Gentoo, and some others. And as for software, all it takes would be to compile the software using 64-bit compilers. And it’s also good timing now that Java has 64-bit support in the Java 1.5 release.
