With my recent purchase of the HP Presario R3140US laptop, I’m starting to investigate Linux to take full advantage of the AMD64 processor. As I mentioned, the first distro I tried was Fedora. But I ran into problems, so I tabled that distro.

Last night, I downloaded the free Personal Edition of SUSE 9.1. But when I tried to install it, I found out it’s only a 32 bit version. To get the 64 bit, I have to buy the Professional Version. However, it costs $89.95 to buy directly off their site. After searching for a little bit, I found out that Amazon Marketplace has several vendors selling it for under $15. So I ordered a combo CD/DVD set for $13.99.
