I can’t recall an entire major city devastated by a natural disaster in my lifetime. Though it’s sad to see so many people suddenly homeless, last year’s close encounter with Hurricane Ivan should have been a warning. And if the whole city is under sea level and all it takes is a cat 4 hurricane to break the levee system, it’s only a matter of time that the entire city would be flooded.

How long will it take to fix the levee systema and pump out all the water? Will the city recover? And how exactly should “New Orleans” be pronounced anyways?
