Today was the General Election for the Chairman of the Fulton County Commission. One of the candidates, Karen Handel, had done a campaign blitz. I must’ve gotten at least 4 flyers from her and 2 phone calls. I didn’t see anything else from any other candidates and it seemed like nobody else would be running. Her platform sounded pretty good (no tax increase), so I decided to vote for her.

The polling location was changed, so I wasn’t quite sure where it was. I got there at 6:30 AM and found out that it’d open at 7. So I did a little grocery shopping and bought a crossaint-wich at Burger King. I got there a little before 7. They were still setting up and told me they weren’t open until 7. I asked the organizer what time she had. She said 6:57.

They weren’t quite ready yet, but at 7, I was the first to sign up. I was quite proud being the first to vote. Then I found out I was at the wrong location! I had showed up at the Independent Methodist Church on Mt Vernon Rd. But I was assigned to the United Methodist Church on Mt Vernon Rd. So I trekked out to find it. Eventually I found it and voted there. Turns out I was still only the fifth person to vote. Seems like it’ll be a pretty low voter turnout today.
